Boynton Beach Pier Underwater Camera, Snook, Eels, And Much More!

Jump into the waters sitting underneath the Boynton Beach Pier aka the north side Jetty that sits adjacent to the Boynton Beach Inlet. On this trip, filmed 05/22/24 we saw an Insane amount of Snook! Common Snook: Snooks can grow to 48 inches long and weigh 38 pounds. It has a sloping forehead, large mouth with a protruding lower jaw, high dorsal fin, and a black lateral line that extends onto its tail. Its color ranges from dark brown on its back to silvery on its sides and white underneath. During spawning season, its pelvic and caudal fins become more yellow. This fish is a hermaphrodite, meaning it changes from male to female as it matures. It lives in near-shore vegetative habitats such as river mouths and salt marshes. These fish are some of the most prized fish found under the Lake Worth Pier, and are always a welcome sight on my Cameras. Green Moray Eel: Green morays are considered "true" eels and have a dorsal fin that extends from its head all along the back before fusing with the caudal (tail) and anal fins. They are often seen opening and closing their mouth, exposing two full rows of very sharp teeth on the upper jaw and a full single row on the lower. We managed to capture two individuals in this video, and in addition to this, another one was captured by a fisherman. The Boynton Beach Inlet is located in South Eastern Florida and is a personal favorite of mine, on the incoming tide the water can get so clear that it becomes my own personal aquarium. Lots of life passes through this inlet, everything from the smallest of fish to the largest of Manta Rays and Sharks use it like a highway to the ocean. The Boynton inlet also has a reputation as being a dangerous inlet, and one that is true. Unfortunately many decide to swim in this inlet, jumping off the bridge that crosses it into the busy waterway, risking their lives for a bit of fun. Truthfully the inlet should never be entered by swimmers, the risk isn't worth the short period of excitement. As for diving in the inlet, this is also something I seriously advise against, for the very same reasons, locally there are a few spots that are safer and provide a similar experience. Fishing at the inlet is incredible, since many species use the waterway, one can catch some amazing fish here. The Boynton inlet is truly an incredible location and one I recommend anyone to visit on incoming rides.
