Episode 17: Why You're Fighting About the Wrong Thing
Have you ever been in the middle of an argument and suddenly thought, *"Wait...why are we even fighting about this?"*
Because sometimes the dishes aren't really about the dishes. The unanswered text isn't really about the text. And the tone of someone's voice isn't always the real reason you're upset.
There's often something underneath the conflict—a need that isn't being met, a boundary that's been crossed, an old wound that's been activated, or a story we've created about what the other person's behavior means.
In this episode, we're getting underneath the fight to explore what's actually happening inside of us when conflict arises.
We'll talk about:
how to recognize the feeling underneath your anger
the difference between a feeling, a story, a boundary, and a standard
why attachment can make a present conflict feel much bigger
the importance of pausing before reacting
how curiosity can change the way we approach conflict
what it actually means to take responsibility for your part
Because understanding your partner matters—but understanding *yourself* in the middle of conflict might be the first step toward changing the entire conversation.
And sometimes the most important question isn't, *"How do I get them to understand me?"*
It's:
*"What is actually happening inside of me right now?"*
