She was born as Dagny Norvoll Sandvik in Norway. She was born the daughter of vocalist Marik Sandvik, a Norwegian jazz songstress and Øystein Norvell, a Norwegian jazz guitarrist. At her younger years she was unsure about following a career in music but after encouragement by her teacher and parents she began to write songs and perform. She began her career in music as part of the duo 'June & Dagny', June Cecile Egerton being a friend of hers at that time. Dagny moved to the UK in 2010, performing in small club circuits and at pop-up events with her partner Richard Craker. After getting back to her hometown and her career stalling it was the song 'Backbeat' released in 2015 that helped her gain a record deal. From there she released her debut EP 'Ultraviolet' in 2016. She released singles in the following years and reached the Norwegian Single Top 40 with 'Love You Like That' in 2017, peaking at #38. After Dagny left the record company she had signed a deal with, she developped er own label 'Little Daggers' and released her debut album 'Strangers / Lovers' in 2020. It peaked at #2 in the Norwegian album charts and the single 'Somebody' became her very first Top 10 single, peaking at #3. In 2021 a collab with fellow countrywomen Astrid S notched her a 2nd Top 10. Here now I present to you my favorite 10 songs of this very gifted songstress, hope you enjoy! What are your favorites?
