In this Video I show you how I put Patina on cymbals to make them look older and used. I share my recipe for a patinating solution and walk you through the steps. There is also a before and after clip of the Jazz Ride that I was working on. Also I touch on putting a thin layer of wax on your cymbal too. The audio is raw and unprocessed. I recorded with a Shure SM81 as overhead and a Sennheiser MD421 each in front of the Bass Drum and in the "wurst position" For your ease in navigating I added time stamps: 00:00 Hello 00:29 Cymbals I already worked on 01:54 The plan for today 02:13 BEFORE sound test 02:56 Recipe for the patinating solution 03:22 Cleaning of the cymbal 03:38 Applying the solution 04:10 Removing buildup 04:36 Stopping the process 04:57 Thoughts 05:09 AFTER sound test 05:44 Comparison 06:31 Second thoughts 06:44 Second patinating session 09:08 How much Patina? 09:39 AFTER second application sound test 10:05 A hair product as a Cymbal finish 10:33 Applying wax to the Cymbal 11:07 First impression 11:29 AFTER two patinating sessions and the application of wax 11:56 Player's perspective 12:12 See You 12:42 Additional tip
