South Mineral Creek Road, Colorado

Forest Road 585 is a popular destination for free camping (as of 2022) off the Million Dollar Highway near Silverton, Colorado and is managed by the San Juan National Forest Service. There are numerous hiking trails including Ice Lake and Clear Lake, and at the end of the 2 wheel drive road, is one of Colorado's finest campgrounds, South Mineral Campground. The road itself is in great condition but is extremely dusty. Most of the sites are walk-in and I would advise leaving food in your vehicle.
