🛒 Ingredients
500g chicken
2 cups jeera samba rice
2 onions
2 tomatoes
1 cup coriander leaves
½ cup mint leaves
4–6 green chillies
Ginger & garlic
Fennel seeds
Cumin
Black pepper
Cinnamon
Cloves
Cardamom
Turmeric
Chilli powder
Garam masala
Curd
Lemon juice
Oil
Ghee
Salt
👨🍳 Preparation
First, let’s marinate the chicken with curd, turmeric, chilli powder, ginger-garlic paste, lemon juice and salt.
Mix everything well and keep it aside for around 30 minutes.
Next, we’re going to prepare our green masala.
Add fresh coriander, mint, green chillies, ginger, garlic, onion, fennel seeds, cumin, pepper, cinnamon and cloves into a mixer and grind it into a smooth paste.
Now heat some oil and ghee in a heavy-bottomed pan.
Add the whole spices followed by sliced onions.
Fry until the onions turn light golden.
Now add our freshly prepared green masala and cook it nicely until the raw smell disappears.
Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft and the oil starts separating.
Now add our marinated chicken.
Cook the chicken for a few minutes so it absorbs all those amazing flavours.
Add the washed jeera samba rice, followed by hot water and salt.
Bring everything to a boil.
Once the water reduces, cover the pan and cook on low flame for 12–15 minutes.
Turn off the flame and let the biryani rest for another 10 minutes.
And finally… our Bengaluru-style Chicken Donne Biryani is ready! 🤤🔥
Serve it hot in a traditional donne with onion raita and lemon.
Look at that colour, aroma and perfectly cooked rice! ❤️
