The Journey Finally Begins!!

The journey finally begins! ⛵ After preparing and waiting in the Tampa Bay area, we finally cast off and begin our sailing adventure down the beautiful west coast of Florida toward Key West. In this episode, we leave Tampa Bay and get our first real taste of life aboard our sailboat. We face our first challenge almost immediately as we dodge a severe storm and struggle to raise the mainsail using our new-to-us in-mast furling system. There’s definitely a learning curve, but this is what adventure is all about! As we cruise south toward Key West, we encounter incredible Florida scenery and wildlife, including pelicans, cormorants, and dolphins swimming alongside the boat. We also try fishing for the first time, explore the excitement of coastal cruising, and experience the freedom of sailing along the Florida coast.
