Harnessing the power of perspective with Positive Psychology Positive Psychology is the scientific study of well-being and human flourishing. The science doesn’t suggest that we eradicate all negative thoughts and observations and only focus on the positive, as this would be detrimental to our survival. As with most things, balance is key. What would it look like if we could tip the scale by consciously focusing on the positive, whilst also acknowledging and leaving space for the negative aspects of our experience?   In this workshop we will explore aspects of Positive Psychology and ways in which you can implement its principles in your coaching practice.   By the end of the workshop, you will have an understanding of the key principles of Positive Psychology, how you can draw on these teachings to inform your practice, and some practical tools to add to your coaching toolkit.   About Lilian Flynn   Lilian is a PCC certified coach, trainer and supervisor. She comes to coaching from a teaching background, and spent over a decade in the education and the training field, in a teaching career that took her from Dublin to Abu Dhabi to London. During this time, she also created and delivered training around Europe for the educational exchange programme Erasmus+. Lilian made her transition from teaching in 2016 when she trained and qualified with Animas. Noticing that she felt most inspired when she was helping her students to achieve their goals, both academic and personal. The idea of coaching came to her as a lightbulb moment, and instantly resonated with her desire to help others. Since qualifying as a coach Lilian has worked with people across many different sectors and helps to promote well-being and coaching culture in organisations, schools and prisons. Lilian holds a Masters in Applied Positive Psychology and Coaching Psychology from the University of East London, she has her own practice which draws on tools and techniques from: coaching, positive psychology, hypnotherapy and NLP, to help her clients to overcome both conscious and unconscious mindset blocks. Lilian is great at building rapport quickly with her down-to-earth approach and calming nature. She finds it easy to open up and put others at ease, as she shares her own experiences and challenges of coaching with a lightness of touch and dose of humour. For Lilian, coaching, training, and helping others to improve is everything that she loves, a passion that really does shine through in her work.
