Kiwirail Movements in the Central South Island over the Labour Weekend (Featuring DM LOCOS!) (4K)

During my recent visit to Christchurch over the labour weekend, I have decided to try and manage to capture as many trains as possible, however it was public holiday time so some regular services weren't running. Midland line coal trains, coal dumps, peak hour Lyttelton shunts and the Tranzalpine, like much of the services that weren't running, I did manage to capture some special freights that covered for regular services. Definitely would want to visit again sometime soon before new locos start ruling the railways! As we get into the video, there are new DM locomotives featured! We take a closer look at the DM 8012 prototype model at the Middleton depot (8029 tucked away in shed). So far, there have been 2 out of an order of 66 locomotives, being manufactured in Spain by a Swiss company called 'Stadler'. They are set to replace the aging locomotive fleet of the South Island, and eventually in the North Island as well. Enjoy this! Would definitely come back down sometime soon! © NZR Railroad Editz ICT
