Day 3 of the Spiti ride is a complete visual reset. Over 130 to 150 km, the asphalt winds down along the Baspa, joins the ferocious Sutluj on NH-5, and carves through the sheer cliffs of kinnaur until you hit the dramatic confluence at Khab. At Khab Sangam, the turquoise Spiti River crashes into the mudday Satluj under the shadow of Leo Purygul. Beyond that bridge, the trees vanish. The climb up the relentless Ka Loops (Kazings) throws tight gravel hairpins and thinning air at you until you roll into Nako - a wind-swept, high-altitiude village clinging to the edge of an emerald lake at 12000 feet.
