This video explores the Book of Proverbs, from Solomon’s wisdom and the fear of the LORD to Lady Wisdom, folly, money, work, relationships, leadership, Agur, Lemuel, and the woman of noble character.
You’ll understand how Proverbs forms wise character, how its sayings should be interpreted, and why biblical wisdom is about becoming the kind of person who chooses the right path before God.
The Book of Proverbs explained is more than a collection of inspirational sayings or promises for success. This full Bible study follows Proverbs as one connected journey built around two competing voices: Wisdom and Folly. We explore Solomon’s role in Israel’s wisdom tradition, the meaning of the fear of the LORD, parental instruction, temptation, sexual faithfulness, diligence, money, generosity, speech, anger, friendship, justice, leadership, and self-control. The documentary also examines Proverbs 8 and the personification of Wisdom, the later collection preserved in Hezekiah’s time, Agur’s humility, King Lemuel’s instruction, and the powerful portrait of the Proverbs 31 woman. Finally, we show why biblical proverbs are principles of wisdom rather than mechanical guarantees—and how Job, Ecclesiastes, Jesus, and the New Testament help us read Proverbs within the wider biblical story.

Interpretation Note
This documentary distinguishes the biblical text from interpretation. Lady Wisdom and Lady Folly are poetic personifications, and Proverbs 8’s description of Wisdom in relation to creation has received different theological interpretations. The historical discussion of Solomon, Hezekiah, and the formation of the collections involves reconstruction beyond what Proverbs explicitly states. Applications about psychology, habits, leadership, relationships, and modern life are explanatory applications. The video also treats individual proverbs as general wisdom principles, not unconditional promises; Job and Ecclesiastes show that righteous people may suffer and outcomes are not controlled by simple formulas. New Testament parallels are presented as biblical connections, not as claims that every proverb directly predicts Jesus.
