When an old-growth tree falls in the rainforest, it sounds like an artillery battery. What you never prepare for... is silence. For twelve years, I worked as a backcountry ranger in the deep wilderness of Olympic National Park. In the late summer of 2019, my partner and I were dispatched into an unmaintained drainage off the Clearwater Divide near the Queets River. The official memo claimed the trees were dying of a fungal blight. That was a lie. The trees weren't rotting. They weren't tipping over. Two-hundred-foot Sitka spruces were sinking straight into the earth without breaking a single branch. And as night fell over the valley, something deep beneath the forest floor began repeating our radio calls. What do you think happened out there in the Queets wilderness? If you know this part of Washington State, or have ever experienced something unexplainable while hiking the Pacific Northwest, tell me your thoughts in the comments below. 🌲 Subscribe to @ShadowsOnTheMap for more dark, cinematic testimonies from the forgotten corners of the wilderness. #HorrorStories #OlympicNationalPark #ParkRanger #Creepypasta #ShadowsOnTheMap #ScaryStories #WildernessHorror
