There are places that mean more to you than you can put into words. For me that place is Somerset Dam. This is where I grew up. Where I first started wakeboarding. Where the obsession began. For as long as I can remember I’ve dreamt of shooting a project like this. When I was younger and drones weren’t really part of the world yet, helicopter filming was something I looked at as the ultimate way to capture wakeboarding. As I started building a career in the sport drones changed the way we filmed and opened up so many incredible possibilities but at the same time, the opportunity to shoot a project from a helicopter became less and less likely. So to finally have the opportunity to do it after 15 years of competing around the world is something that means a lot to me. To be able to do it at Somerset Dam makes it even more special. This is the place where my journey started. I spent countless hours here learning to ride, dreaming about where wakeboarding could take me and never imagining that one day I’d be coming back after 15 years of competing around the world to create something like this. Being able to bring a high end project like this to life with a helicopter in the sky above the same water where it all began is something I’ll never take for granted. This project is about more than just wakeboarding. It’s about where it all started, how far this journey has taken me and coming full circle back to a place that will always have a huge part of my heart.
