🏝️ From Kampala to the Heart of Lake Victoria: My Kalangala Island Work Vlog! 💼🌊 Join me on my latest work journey as I travel from the busy streets of Kampala down to the beautiful, tropical paradise of Kalangala District. Geographically, Kalangala is a unique archipelago made up of 84 scattered islands floating in the northwestern corner of Lake Victoria. For this trip, my work took me all over Bugala Island—the largest, hilliest, and most developed island in the entire group—where I spent time visiting and working across its various local landing sites. Getting to this island district is an adventure in itself, as Kalangala has two main entry routes: The Masaka Route (Western Gate): Driving from Kampala down to Masaka, you head to the Bukakata landing site and board a large vehicle ferry to cross over to the Luku port on Bugala Island. The Entebbe Route (Northern Gate): Heading straight to Entebbe's Nakiwogo dock, you board a massive passenger ship/ferry (like the MV Kalangala) for a direct sail across the open waters of Lake Victoria.Beyond its breathtaking scenery, Kalangala is a powerful economic hub driven by its natural landscape. The island interior is covered in endless, striking palm tree plantations used locally to harvest seeds for domestic cooking oil production. Along the coastlines, the vibrant fishing industry serves as the heartbeat of the community, earning a living for thousands of islanders.
