Three hours is an exam-revision session or a deep work morning. Six
cycles. By the fourth the timer stops being a rule and starts being a
rhythm you are just following.
The screen is split. The left half counts your 25 minutes of focus; the right
half holds at 5:00, waiting. When the focus block ends they swap — the break
side lights up, the focus side dims and resets. You never have to work out
which phase you are in, and you never have to look at a number to know how
much is left: the ring around the icon empties as the time does.
A soft bell marks every change. Nothing else in 3 hours asks for your
attention.
WHAT'S UNDER IT
Brown noise, and only brown noise. No music, no talking, no lyrics, nothing
with a structure your brain can start following. Brown noise falls off more
steeply toward the high end than white or pink, which is why it reads as a
low rumble rather than a hiss — closer to heavy rain or distant surf than to
static. It masks the sounds that break concentration without becoming a sound
you concentrate on.
The noise here is synthesised, low-passed at 1.6 kHz to take the fatigue out
of the top end, and mixed quiet on purpose. If you can hear it clearly you
have it too loud.
HOW TO USE THIS
1. Pick one task before you press play. Not a list — one.
2. Work while the left side is lit. When the bell goes, stop mid-sentence
if you have to.
3. Actually take the break. Stand up. The 5 minutes are load-bearing.
4. Do not skip ahead to see how much is left. The ring is there so you
do not have to.
