Jhum cultivation or shifting cultivation is a traditional agricultural practice in the state of Nagaland. This long cycle Jhum practice evolved over centuries is seen to have provided sustainable Agrobiodiversity, food security, livelihood and social cultural bonding for the practising communities. I also got the opportunity to visit one such Jhums and experience the work first hand at Tsungiki Village under Wokha District !
