I rode from Shigatse to Gyantse for a day trip, then returned to my campsite in Shigatse for the night. The ruins of Gyantse Dzong stand as a powerful reminder of a nearly forgotten chapter of history—the fierce resistance of Tibetan soldiers and local people against the British invasion of 1904, a story that has remained largely buried for more than a century. Nearby, Pala Manor is also well worth a visit.
