2026 MCW Community Engagement Spotlight: Community Health Workers & Medical Students in Central WI

The September session of the Community Engagement Spotlight Series featured community health workers Francisco Guerrero and Gustavo Perna and MCW medical students Clara Stifler and Jacob White for a conversation about their collaboration. Francisco Guerrero Health Navigator Wisconsin Institute for Public Policy and Service (WIPPS) Gustavo Perna Outreach Associate Wisconsin Institute for Public Policy and Service (WIPPS) Clara Stifler Medical Student MCW-Central Wisconsin Jacob White Medical Student MCW-Central Wisconsin Francisco and Gustavo are community health workers in the Wausau area who have collaborated with medical students from MCW-Central Wisconsin to address hypertension, particularly in the rural and Latino immigrant communities, through a community project funded by the Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin Endowment. Their partnership helps provide hands-on support to connect patients with elevated blood pressure to care.  Meet Our Facilitator!
