Our honeymoon was one night in a local hotel. Then it was back to school. I was sixteen, in the tenth grade, married, and preparing to become a mother. In episode one, “Married at 16: Becoming a Wife Before I Grew Up,” I share what happened after the wedding, the birth of my daughter, the friend who stood beside me while my husband was away at basic training, and the reality of becoming a young mother. Looking back, I can see how overwhelmed I felt as I tried to find confidence as a wife and mom, accept help, and understand who I was becoming. "Can you grow up before you’ve had the chance to be a child?" This is Unconventional Lessons: Real Life Stories, season one "Growing Up Too Fast." Every story leaves a lesson…these are mine.
