How did Nazi Germany watch, hunt and kill on such a scale — with a secret police that was far smaller than its legend? This documentary follows the ten agencies of Hitler's security state, from the Gestapo and the SS Security Service (SD) to the Reich Main Security Office (RSHA), the Abwehr, the Kripo, the Order Police, the Wehrmacht's Secret Field Police and military police, and the Sipo-SD formations in occupied Europe — and what happened to the men who ran them.
Told through archival photographs and original documents: the 1936 Gestapo law that put it above the courts, the Jäger Report, the Wannsee protocol, the Nuremberg judgment.
⚠️ Content note: this film discusses persecution, mass murder and the Holocaust. It contains no graphic images. Made for education and remembrance.
