6 - Milia (Apple Tree) 1935
Rebetiko song by Kostas Dousas written in America

I enter a garden and see an apple tree full of apples, and on top of it there is a lady
I tell her to come down and kiss me, and she takes an apple and throws it at me
On the river where you bathe, you look like an angel
An angel with a sword, you are going to take my soul
Your beautiful eyes and white neck made me walk like a madman
On the river near the chaste trees, I kissed you but you don’t admit it
I go to grab an apple, and grab her hand, Jesus Christ I want to be hers
I go to grab another, and grab her calf, Jesus Christ I want to be her man
On the river near your laundry, where you tidy your hair
If you don’t want me, I’ll get married, wear black clothes and play and dance

Con’tylia were born in the winter of 2023, in the kitchen of 1243 Argyle Street, Glasgow. While we were singing along to Vamvakaris, we had the idea to book our first gig and play Greek music to a foreign crowd, which led us to our firs on t intimate performance at Tchai Ovna. Ever since that moment, we have had the good fortune of sharing our music in venues and festivals across Scotland. This project has shaped us as musicians and allowed us to explore the musical roots of our country, Greece, along with the surrounding traditions.
This album wouldn’t have been possible without the people of Glasgow’s vibrant music scene, who have supported our journey and embraced our sound. You make dancing, laughing, crying, and sighing on Scottish dancefloors a joy. A special thank you to Nicky, Chloe, Orpheas, Filippos, and all of our friends who contributed to this album and helped us reach this moment.
