SASI -single anastomosis sleeve ileal bypass

The SASI (sometimes called 'sleeve bypass') is a new bariatric surgery method. It can be seen as an 'in between' hybrid of a Gastric Bypass and a Sleeve Gastrectomy. It potentially unites the benefits of the two: greater weight loss than a Sleeve Gastrectomy (due to the intestinal bypass), but also better vitamin uptake and less risk of hypoglycemia than with a Gastric Bypass (due to 20% of the food still passing via the duodenum).
