Peaks, Lochs and Sea Shores | Solo Travel in the Scottish Highlands

Hi! Join me in the wilds of the Scottish Highliands for a couple of days of hiking through the peaks, forests, lochs and sea shores. This was the last part of my trip - which was my first time visiting Scotland. As it was a solo trip I was able to fill it with all the things I love most, which is really the best part of solo travel! My focus was to embrace the idea of slow and mindful travel. I stayed in a motorhome style cabin tucked away on the edge of a woodland called Spital Woods , but in this video I got out for some longer hikes away from the woodland and up into the local peaks near the village of Muir of Ord. I made my way up purple heather covered hills up to the top of Ord Hill, from which there were stunning views all around over the Black Isle, Cromarty and Beauly Firths to the east and the Affric mountains to the west. I then made my way to the Loch Nam Bonnach, a remote mountain loch which was beatifully eerie. After this I headed back towards the cabin through the windy trails amongst the heather, pine trees, and farmland. Following this big hiking day, the next day was a much more relaxed, with the goal of getting down to the seaside to drink coffee and watch birds in the sunshine. I did also end up coming across the ruins of of a castle in the village of Redcastle.
