What Makes RM's SFMOMA Show a RECORD-BREAKER?!

RM’s exhibition at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, titled “RM x SFMOMA: Between You and Me,” has sold more than 66,000 tickets. Advance sales reached six times the level of any previous exhibition at the museum, setting a new demand record for SFMOMA. The exhibition brings together 142 works from RM’s private collection and 36 works from SFMOMA. The display includes Korean paintings, calligraphy, sculptures, and even a Pokémon animation cel, creating a personal portrait of RM’s collecting interests alongside the museum’s holdings. The show was co-curated by América Castillo and Hyoeun Kim after Castillo invited RM to take part around two years earlier, while he was serving in South Korea’s military. Exhibition merchandise also sold out within three hours of launch. RM said during a media preview that a collection can reveal a person honestly because it has been built over a long period of time.
