Bryce, Fairyland Loop, Grand Tour, Piet's Zen Moment, July 30, 2009, w/Geologist Kent Duane Olsen

Grandma, Paka 'n Unca D excitedly arrived too early to get into Bryce's fabulous campground...so we ventured onto the Fairyland Loop. Pronghorn guarded the way, so it seemed extra wild. Otherwise, we were alone. Then we spotted a Casey Bert on the rim...and the explorations and campground fun began. We had a box of Grandpa Olsen's wood, and the grandkids made good use of the perfectly cut building blocks. My FAVORITES were Maya playing "touch" with the hoodoos and PIET's ZEN moment on the Wall Street hike. The two of them seemed extra taken by Bryce, and it opened our eyes wider to the wonders of God's clever creations. He loves to delight and surprise us! But wait, it gets even better. Newel led us to a place Paka and I had not been: Calf Creek Falls. I still have a photo as my screensaver of Newel as a lone man, looking over this wild and seemingly untouched portion of the creation. For our visit it was HOT, and Newel had the super idea of using Calf Creek as a trail. All wanted to shed their clothes, but we set an age limit that only Maya qualified for.
