Tonggudang, Guizhou, China Place-created live music. Episode Four contemporary artists meet Miao musicians in the karst landscape of Tonggudang, Guizhou. Beginning with an unaccompanied Miao ancient song, the live unfolds through electronic sound, Fanpai wooden drums, and voice. Around them, life continues — horses graze nearby, wind moves through the rocks, and a flock of sheep returning home passes through the performance. Nothing here was staged. The musicians play. The place responds. Place Tonggudang, Guizhou, China Tonggudang is a karst landscape of dark limestone formations and open grassland in Anshun, Guizhou. Cattle, horses and sheep from nearby villages graze freely across the area as part of everyday life. Here, the landscape is not a backdrop. Music The live was shaped on site after the artists and musicians met and listened to one another. It begins with the human voice. And returns to it at the end.
