Then one long note, so slow I think he's forgotten the song, he stops, breathes in, the whole room hears it, and nothing's wrong. I count the bars he leaves empty. It's more than he plays. Me, I pack sixteen full and call it a good day. One breath, one line. If it won't fit, it isn't true. One breath, one line. Say less, take your time. The empty bar is part of the rhyme. He's sixty-eight, says the air gets shorter every year, so he threw out half the notes, kept the ones you need to hear. At twenty he played fast, to prove that he belonged, now he plays one phrase, sits down, and the phrase stays all night long. I think of verses that I stuffed until they couldn't move, a hundred words a minute, and what did all that prove? Leave a door in the line. Somebody's waiting outside. One breath, one line. Say less, take your time. The empty bar is part of the rhyme. Last set, he plays four notes, and I swear the rain slows down, then nothing for two bars. Nobody makes a sound. I cross out half my page and the half that's left gets loud, eight lines where there were sixteen, and each one holds its ground. He packs the horn and breathes out slow, like that's part of the tune, I breathe in before I speak. I'm learning that part too. One breath, one line. Say less, take your time. The empty bar is part of the rhyme. On tenor: one breath at a time. #RYKER #EnglishRap #HipHop #MaskedRapper #AsianAmerican #TheNoNameLessRAP #TNL #AIMusic #VirtualArtist #OfficialAudio #Personnel #JazzHop #ChillJazz #OneBreathOneLine YouTube →    / @thenonamelessrap
