5th January 2024 started as cloudy morning and turned into a hot sunny summers day. It contains SSR grains trains unloaded and post loading. It contains locomotives shunts, and reorganised motive power combinations. Starting at the Wagga Bomen viaduct we see a GM GM EL CLP and VL lead empty train heading towards Coolamon. We see the GMs play a predominant role in SSR grain train activity on this day. The GMs were being returned from AK cars duties and were aded to the CM service in Melbourne. This train four Qube used Goodwin Alco's sitting in Junee yard. We leave this train passing Junee and conclude our morning view. In the afternoon we see the train return to Junee being lead by VL CLP GM GM EL. Due to drawbar issues the GMs were tucked behind the EL from Coolamon for the return to Junee. And at the same location near Old Junee we see a CLP 49 and C class lead train (number 3242) heading loaded towards Junee also. But the fun continued as the GMs were dropped from their train in Junee near the old loco. We then witnessed a shunt so that train 3242 is reorganised as CLP GM GM 49 and C in preparation for the locomotives to run around the train in Junee yard where it leaves as C 49 GM GM CLP. The GMs were placed on train 3242 for forwarding and detaching at Cootamundra. The toll of heat and time meant I did not follow this train further. Tiredness had overcome me. We also see some Qube shunting with three QBXs entering the Junee yard as train 1311 had arrived on the Main South as these Hay branch SSR locomotive shunting activities were occurring. Thanks to those who keep me in touch with this rail action. It is greatly appreciated.
