In Songudda village of Balaghat, Madhya Pradesh, The Lallantop visited a Primary Health Centre where doctors and healthcare workers are working hard to treat tribal children amid a difficult healthcare reality. Our ground report shows how children are being examined and treated with limited facilities — in some cases even on wooden planks, tables and floors. At the same time, many tribal families living in remote areas have to travel a considerable distance to reach the health centre. The story brings together two contrasting realities: healthcare workers putting in the effort on the ground, and the challenges faced by tribal families in accessing timely medical treatment. How far is the Primary Health Centre from the villages? What kind of facilities are available for patients? How are doctors managing treatment with limited resources? And what does the healthcare system look like from inside a remote tribal region? The Lallantop travelled to Son Gutta to understand these questions from the ground and bring you the reality of healthcare in Balaghat’s tribal belt.
