Honor Roll Assembly & Helping Shelter Animals | School Update, October 23

On Thursday, October 22, we celebrated our kindergarten through fifth-grade scholars who made the A or A/B Honor Roll for Term 1, with their families at our Honor Roll Assembly at TMSA Charlotte-Concord Elementary. All October, our first graders have been collecting donations for the Cornelius Animal Shelter and writing features about its adoptable animals, and on Thursday they spent the day on a field trip to Dan Nicholas Park in Salisbury. Mr. Lis has your update, with a fourth grader and her mother at the assembly, two of our first graders, and a look back at the TMSA Charlotte Fall Festival. DATES TO KNOW • Fri, Oct 23: Last day of the Cookie Dough & More Fundraiser. Orders are online only, and every sale supports our PTO. • Sat, Oct 24: Last day to send a name idea for TMSA's new container farms. The form is on ParentSquare. • Thu, Oct 29: Book-A-Ween Parade for every grade, shortly after 8:15 AM in front of the school. Scholars come dressed as their favorite book character, not a regular Halloween costume. Families are welcome to watch from the front sidewalk: please park first, and let our scholars walk with their class. • Thu, Oct 29: Last day to bring donations for the shelter animals to the collection tub in our front office. • Thu, Oct 29: Trunk or Treat, 5:30–6:30 PM. To host a decorated trunk, use the sign-up link in our latest newsletter. You can also send a bag of candy to school to help fill the trunks: the grade that brings in the most bags wins a donut party. • Fri, Oct 30: No school, Relief Friday. REMINDERS • Vision to Learn is returning to our school with free eye exams for our scholars. To have your child take part, please fill out the form on ParentSquare. The exam dates will be shared soon. • We would love more families on our Parent Lighthouse Team. You can join with the sign-up link in our latest newsletter.
