HIDDEN SHAME: 10 British TV Stars Who Lied About Their Dark Past

We invited these stars into our homes. We believed the warmth was real. One hid suitcases of cash in the attic while playing the loveable fool. Another ran two families for decades. A third had been convicted of murder in Germany, and kept silent until his face appeared in every living room in Britain. Court records, newspaper exposés and their own confessions tell a different story from the one we saw on screen. From Ken Dodd, Patrick Troughton, Isobel Barnett, Tom Jones and Jess Yates to Fanny Cradock, Peter Wyngarde, Phillip Schofield, Hughie Green and Leslie Grantham, these are ten true stories of the secrets behind much-loved British television faces, and the moment each one came out. Every account is attributed, and every star's own words are given. Which secret surprised you most? Tell us in the comments. Like and subscribe for more true stories from British television. Note: A documentary retrospective made for historical, educational and entertainment purposes. All accounts are attributed to court records, published reports and the subjects' own words.
