He fathered 5 children with his late first wife, Hajia Safinatu Yusuf, and were blessed with four girls and one boy. Buhari however divorced his first wife in 1988 legally and married his present wife, Aisha Buhari, who was 18 years of age then two years later. She gave him 5 children too, 4 girls and 1 boy. Sadly, Buhari lost two of his children with his first wife to the cold hands of death. His son Musa and his first daughter Zulaihat. Buhari lost Musa, his eldest son at a very young age after suffering from sickle cell. Musa never got to experience adulthood. His first daughter Zulaihat died in November 2012 from the same sickle cell complication shortly after giving birth.
