The banknotes I saw and used during my trip were paper banknotes, not plastic/polymer currency. They have beautiful traditional and historical designs that make Uzbekistan's currency very interesting for travelers and collectors. 💵 My real USD exchange experience in Uzbekistan: I exchanged $100 at a bank at the airport and received an exchange rate of: $1 = 12,010 Uzbek Som Later, after several days, I exchanged another $100 through an ATM/exchange-company machine, where the rate was: $1 = 11,800 Uzbek Som So, based on my personal experience, the bank exchange rate was better than the ATM/exchange-company rate. 👉 My recommendation: When traveling to Uzbekistan, compare the exchange rates before exchanging your dollars. In my experience, exchanging at a government/official bank was safer and gave me a better rate than the ATM exchange service I used. I also compare the value of Uzbek Som with US Dollars and Pakistani Rupees (PKR) and show the different Uzbek currency notes in detail.
