The Jack Daniel's Nymph is a nymph pattern that a lot of the guys coming in the shop have been talking about this year. It's a fly from Cory Cuje of Old Dominion Trout Bum. Cory has a great channel and I highly suggest you checking him out if you haven't already. He's a great fisherman and tier and is very articulate and does a great job explaining things whether on the water or behind the vise.
This pattern is a great example of what a euro nymph should look like. There are a few simple rules when tying euro nymph with the most important one being "THIN FOR THE WIN". This is very much a minimalist style tie. Keep your thread wraps and your materials to a minimum. I'll be honest, I got a little heavy on my CDC fibers on the tie in this video. I should have used a few less CDC fibers in my dubbing twist.
Like always, tie this pattern in different sizes and colors. The Jack Daniel's is a perfect fly tor the "generic" style of flies that I like the most. It can imitate a multitude of different mayfly species simply by changing size and/or color. If you need any of the materials to tie this fly or others please head over to our website https://www.holsingersflyshop.com for all your needs. Thanks for watching.
