Welcome to Sketch #2 of The Sketch Log ✏️ For this sketch, I followed a scenery drawing tutorial by Paintlane. I chose this one because the scenery looked relatively simple for a beginner — although, as you'll see, I still managed to make a few mistakes along the way! In this sketch, I’m experimenting with pencil pressure to create lighter and darker shades, working on shapes like the house and boat, and trying reflections and shading in the water. The reflections were probably my favourite part of this sketch — surprisingly satisfying to draw. I’m still using the same two basic, ungraded pencils from Sketch #1: the red pencil for drawing and the softer black pencil for shading. No special drawing equipment yet. There are definitely things I would do differently next time, especially the boat and some of the darker shading, but that’s exactly what The Sketch Log is about — learning through every sketch and seeing how things change over time.
