🌴 Gran Canaria – Our Well-Earned Escape to Paradise! After what felt like a very well-earned break, we headed back to one of our favourite holiday destinations, Gran Canaria! ☀️ We stayed at the stunning 5⭐ Lopesan Costa Meloneras Resort & Spa, in the beautiful Meloneras area in the south of the island, where golden sandy beaches, crystal-clear blue seas and glorious sunshine make it the perfect place to relax, unwind and recharge the batteries. Although relaxation was very much at the top of our agenda, you know what we're like! The adventurous side of us couldn't resist getting out and about, so we spent two days exploring more of this incredible island. We've visited Gran Canaria around ten times over the last 30 years, and there's a reason we keep coming back. It's so much more than just a beach holiday destination! From stunning coastal scenery and charming traditional villages to dramatic mountains and breathtaking volcanic landscapes, there's always something new to discover. 🌋 Did you know? Gran Canaria is often described as a miniature continent because of its incredible variety of landscapes. You can go from sunny beaches and sand dunes to lush green valleys and rugged mountain scenery, all within a relatively short drive. The island was formed by volcanic activity millions of years ago, and at its heart lies Pico de las Nieves, one of its highest peaks, offering spectacular views across the island. Gran Canaria is also home to the famous Maspalomas sand dunes, a remarkable landscape that feels more like a desert than a European holiday destination! And here's another interesting fact: Gran Canaria is one of Spain's Canary Islands, but it's actually located in the Atlantic Ocean off the northwest coast of Africa. Whether it's soaking up the sunshine, enjoying the local food, discovering hidden gems or simply watching the world go by beside those beautiful blue waters, Gran Canaria never disappoints.
