Hamamelis Magic, Arboretum Kalmthout, Belgium

Thousands of red, orange and yellow flowers light up the garden and spread a delicious sweet perfume. Truly magical! The witch hazel collection (Hamamelis) of the Arboretum Kalmthout is the largest in Europe and includes some of the largest and oldest known examples. During the Witch Hazel Festival (from 6 January 2022 until 27 February 2022), these Hamamelises are flowering. During my visit I spotted some other winter flowering plants like Mahonia and Chimonanthus praecox. Beautiful and really worth a visit during wintertime!
