Restoring a rare Dickens set: 'Pickwick Papers' - Part 1

I guestimated that this job - restoring the 2 volumes of 'Pickwick' - would take 2-3 hours. Actually, it took twice as long! Find out what the repair job entailed, the materials and techniques I used, and how this entire set, i.e. the Illustrated Library Edition - was itself initially a salvage operation by Chapman & Hall in 1861 after the disastrous failure of the UN-illustrated Library Edition of 1858-9.
