Imran Khan’s Warrior Race (1993) | Ghairatmand Musalman (1995) | Journey Through Pashtun Tribal Lands In this documentary, we explore Imran Khan’s lesser-known book Warrior Race: A Journey Through the Land of the Tribal Pathans, published in 1993 by Chatto & Windus. The book presents Khan’s travel experiences, observations, and encounters with Pashtun communities and tribal society in the northwestern areas of Pakistan. The Urdu edition, Ghairatmand Musalman (غیرت مند مسلمان), was published in 1995 and brought the account to Urdu-speaking readers. The video looks at Khan’s journeys through areas associated with the former tribal belt, including South Waziristan and Bajaur, while examining what he wrote about Pashtun traditions, hospitality, tribal customs, social organization, honour, independence, and everyday life. Rather than looking at the book only through the lens of Imran Khan’s later political career, this documentary focuses on the travelogue itself—his experiences as a visitor, his observations of Pashtun society, and the historical context in which the book was written. Topics covered: • Warrior Race (1993) • Ghairatmand Musalman (1995) • Imran Khan’s travels in the tribal areas • South Waziristan and Pashtun tribal society • Bajaur and the former FATA region • Pashtun culture and traditions • Tribal hospitality and social customs • Jirga and traditional forms of community organization • Imran Khan’s observations and experiences • The historical background of the book
