7 Black Folsom inmates Carlifonia considered too Dangerous to ever transfer—Full Details & List

Folsom State Prison opened in 1880 and became one of America's most notorious maximum-security prisons. Next door, California State Prison, Sacramento, known as New Folsom, added violent chapters of its own. In this documentary, we examine seven inmates whose crimes, escapes, and prison histories shaped that reputation. You'll hear the documented story of Glen Stewart Godwin, who escaped Folsom through a storm drain in 1987 and became an FBI Ten Most Wanted fugitive. You'll follow Caryl Chessman, Eldridge Cleaver, Ed Davis, and Robert Lee Cannon, and the 1937 escape attempt that killed Warden Clarence Larkin and Officer Harry Martin. You'll also learn about Charles Manson's years at Folsom and Hugo Pinell, who was killed in a 2015 riot at New Folsom. Every case is built from court records, government files, FBI material, and reputable reporting. Where accounts conflict, we say so. Where something is only alleged, we say that too. What happens when an inmate becomes so violent, influential, or determined to escape that ordinary security is no longer enough? Watch to the end, then tell us in the comments: which case surprised you most, and what could California's prison system have done differently? 👍 Like, subscribe, and turn on notifications for more American prison documentaries.
