Is this the "Lost Horizon" everyone talks about? The air is thinner here, but the colors are sharper. Day 12 of our Yunnan expedition lands us in the mythical Shangri-La, and frankly, the scale of this place is humbling. We start at the majestic Songzanlin Monastery (松赞林寺). They call it the "Little Potala Palace," and when you see that gold roof catching the morning sun against the mountains, you understand why. It’s not just architecture; it’s an atmosphere. But the real workout happened at Guishan Park (龟山公园). We tried to spin the Giant Prayer Wheel—it’s massive, golden, and requires a literal team effort to move. You can feel the energy of the crowd pushing together. Later, we drift into the cobbled streets of Dukezong Ancient Town (独克宗古镇). It’s a place of resilience, rising from the ashes of the 2014 fire. We wrap the night with a sensory overload: the Tusi Banquet (土司宴). Think yak meat, butter tea, and intense Tibetan performance art. If you’re planning a trip to Yunnan, Shangri-La is the non-negotiable stop. 📍 Locations in this video: Songzanlin Monastery (Ganden Sumtseling) Guishan Park & The Giant Prayer Wheel Dukezong Ancient Town (Moonlight City) Timestamps: 0:00 - Intro 0:35 - 香格里拉兰欧国际酒店 1:18 - Traditional cloth rental 1:46 - Way to Songzanlin Monastery
