The Strangest Prehistoric Birds That Ever Lived

Birds weren’t always the animals we recognize today. Some had mouths full of teeth. Others abandoned their wings completely. Some grew into half-ton giants, while one enormous eagle evolved to hunt birds more than ten times its own weight. In this video, we explore some of the strangest prehistoric birds ever discovered — including Pelagornis, Hesperornis, Falcatakely, Balaur, Genyornis, elephant birds, and Haast’s eagle. Each one broke a different rule we associate with birds today. And some were so strange that scientists still debate exactly what they were.
