Our FORTY-THIRD visit takes us to Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville, PA. Here, the National Park Service preserves the story of the 40 passengers and crew who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, along with the story of the Shanksville community that witnessed the aftermath and helped care for the site in the days that followed. Standing here, looking across the field where Flight 93 came to rest, was a powerfully moving experience for me. Twenty-five years later, the significance of this place has not faded. If anything, its silence makes the story feel even more powerful. Flight 93 National Memorial is more than a place where history happened. It is a place of remembrance, courage, sacrifice, and reflection — and a reminder that behind every moment in history are real people whose lives mattered. This was, without a doubt, one of the most impactful visits I've made on the Park Buff journey.
