the apostles returned from preaching and told Jesus what they had done, He recognized their need for rest and brought them to a quiet place. Yet when the multitude followed them, Jesus was “moved with compassion toward them,” because they were like sheep without a shepherd. He then taught them many things and miraculously fed more than five thousand people with five loaves and two fishes. Afterward, Jesus sent His disciples across the sea while He went alone to pray. When a storm arose, He came walking upon the water and said, “Be of good cheer: it is I; be not afraid.” This reminds us that Jesus is with us even in the midst of life’s storms. The disciples were amazed at His power, and when they reached land, people brought the sick to Him, and those who touched even the border of His garment were made whole. This passage teaches us that Christ cares for our spiritual and physical needs, provides when our resources seem insufficient, and has authority over every storm we face. Our responsibility is to trust Him, follow Him, and remember that nothing is too difficult for the Lord.
