/ @journeytojubilee   There’s a BIG difference between **looking wealthy and actually being wealthy**—and from the outside, they can look exactly the same. A beautiful house. A luxury car. Designer clothes. Expensive vacations. Nice restaurants. None of those things tell us someone’s actual financial position. They could be deeply in debt. They could also have everything paid off and a $10 million net worth. *We just don’t know.* And that’s exactly why comparison can become so expensive. In this video, we’re talking about the difference between **looking wealthy and building real wealth**, why it’s so easy to confuse income with wealth, and how trying to display success can actually delay financial freedom. Because one of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is this: *Some of the decisions that made us wealthier didn’t make us look wealthier at all.* My husband and I went from a negative net worth to becoming completely debt-free and building a seven-figure net worth. And along the way, we had to learn that having a good income and actually building wealth are two completely different skills. In this video, we’ll talk about: • Why financial freedom is often invisible • The difference between income and wealth • Why “I can afford the payment” can be a dangerous financial standard • How lifestyle upgrades can compete with wealth-building • Why comparison can quietly increase your spending • How to let income increases improve your net worth—not just your lifestyle • Why knowing your net worth matters • How biblical stewardship can help us focus on our own financial assignment One of the questions I’ve learned to ask before buying something is: *“If nobody ever saw this, would I still want it?”* Because sometimes we’re buying something because we genuinely value it. And sometimes we’re buying it because of what we hope it communicates about us. Those are two very different motivations. There’s nothing wrong with nice things. I like nice things too. 😂 But there IS a trade-off every time we spend money. A $900 monthly car payment is $10,800 every year. Maybe you decide the car is absolutely worth it. Personal finance is personal. But the better question isn’t only: *“Can I afford it?”* It’s also: *“Is this where I want $10,800 of my money going every year?”* That’s the difference between simply having access to something and intentionally deciding whether it fits the financial life you’re trying to build. Because: *Income is what flows in. Wealth is what you build and keep.* Galatians 6:4 says: “Pay careful attention to your own work, for then you will get the satisfaction of a job well done, and you won’t need to compare yourself to anyone else.” That principle applies beautifully to our finances. What is wise for *your household?* What are *your goals?* What has God entrusted to *you?* We don’t have to build our financial lives around proving something to everyone else. 🤎 YOUR NEXT STEP: Calculate your net worth. List what you own. List what you owe. Subtract your liabilities from your assets. And whatever number you get—remember: *The number is information, not identity.* Then ask: *“What could I do over the next year to move this number in the right direction?”* 🤎 COMMUNITY QUESTION: When you hear the word *“wealthy,” what does that actually mean to you?* Is it a certain net worth? Being debt-free? Owning your home? Having control over your time? Being able to give generously? Having enough invested to stop working? I’d love to hear how YOU define wealth in the comments. Welcome to **The Journey to Jubilee**—a community pursuing financial freedom through biblical wisdom, practical action, honest conversations, and better stewardship. Looking wealthy and building wealth can require completely different behaviors. *Don’t sacrifice the second one trying to prove the first.* *Build the part nobody can see.* 🤎 Subscribe and join us on The Journey to Jubilee. #BuildingWealth #FinancialFreedom #NetWorth #PersonalFinance #BiblicalStewardship #ChristianFinance #MoneyManagement #FinancialLiteracy #LifestyleInflation
