RoadTrip 2025 – Episode 5: Dibrugarh → Duliajan | Ancestral Blessings, Family Bonds & Wedding Vibes 🚗🌿🙏 Episode 6 unfolded in Upper Assam with a strong sense of family and tradition. We reached Pallavi’s hometown, Duliajan, where wedding preparations were already in full swing for her cousin brother’s marriage. Markets were busy, homes were buzzing, and every corner carried the warmth of celebration. Our drive through Duliajan led us to Pallavi’s nani’s house, lovingly managed by Chote Mama. The visit turned into a refreshing countryside experience — Manish happily relished raw pomelo, malta, gooseberry, and star fruit, proudly calling it a perfect dose of Vitamin C and Iron straight from nature. A deeply meaningful moment followed as we all gathered for Nau Purkho Shraddha, an important Assamese pre-marriage ritual. Before the wedding, the family invited Bhokats—those who prepare sacred food and conduct the rituals—to offer prayers and tribute to nine generations of ancestors, seeking their blessings for the new journey of marriage. The ceremony blended devotion, gratitude, and togetherness, ending with a traditional Bhoj (community meal) that brought everyone closer. As the day wrapped up, we headed back to Dibrugarh Airport to pick up Pallavi’s sister, arriving from the USA. The excitement peaked with wedding shopping — including luxury Mekhla Chadors, elegant, handwoven, and undeniably expensive, but worth every thread for such a special occasion.
