It may not be obvious, but soon over 95% of modern jobs will be automated. Four years ago, ChatGPT and the likes of it could not reliably compute simple sums. But now, just those few years later, frontier models are doing math beyond the so-called expert level... All these jobs where people do trivial calculations, low-level problem solving, or anything like that will ALL be gone. And once robotics catches up a year or two later.. Now is the time to really think about the kind of future we want. The world is full of people who care for nothing but money. If we just let things go their own way, it won't be pretty. Then again, if we just spent some proper effort on thinking about the future, about how we want things to be, what kind of societal roles we wish to occupy, then it could be a literal real-life utopia.
