The Leek and Manifold Railway was a 2ft 6inch gauge railway in the English county of Staffordshire. It ran for a distance of 8.25 miles from Waterhouses in the south to Hulme End in the north. The line opened in 1904, and primarily transported milk churns to and from the dairy at Ecton. Sadly the closed in 1934 after just 30 years of operation.
While the real line is long gone, a recreation of the line has been in Train Simulator since 2014. The route is available from UKTrainSim (file id 32403).
This video features a run over the full length of the L&MR. Our engine is Merddin Emrys, a double-fairlie from the Ffestiniog Railway. I had to use this engine because the engines that ran on the real L&MR are not in Train Simulator.
We start at Hulme End yard, assembling a rake of both freight wagons and two (of the line's four) passenger coaches. Then it's off to Waterhouses, which is the southern terminus of the line. Along the way we make passenger stops at all stations except Butterton, Redhurst Crossing and Thor's Cave. While at Wetton Mill we leave two wagons behind, and attach another short rake of wagons at Grindon.
Also seen at Waterhouses is an LMS Fowler 4F on the standard-gauge line, and a hilariously small Lister Auto Truck in the narrow-gauge yard.
