One Central: Called from Central - Johnny Crouch

For 79 years, Central United Methodist Church has been a part of Johnny Crouch’s life. Baptized and raised at Central, Johnny spent decades serving his church while building a 50-year career in the insurance business. But God's call would eventually lead him down a path he never expected. What began as an unexpected moment during a funeral led Johnny to become a certified lay speaker and, eventually, to serve a congregation in Johnsonville, South Carolina, at the age of 66. With encouragement from his wife, Mary, and the guidance of pastors at Central, Johnny discovered that God's calling doesn't always come when or how we expect it. In this installment of our Sent Into Ministry series, Johnny reflects on his lifelong connection to Central, his unexpected journey into ministry, and the importance of trusting God's direction. As Johnny reminds us, “We only have one job, and that's obedience. The rest of it is God's job.” Watch Johnny's story and discover how a lifetime of faith and service at Central helped prepare him to answer God's call.
