Building a traditional bamboo vegetable garden, harvesting bananas, and making banana cake. The morning began gently as Uyên Thư, Tiểu Vinh, and I tended to the livestock before sitting down together for a simple breakfast. Since Uyên Thư wasn't ready for me to leave yet, I called my company to ask for a few extra days so I could spend more time with everyone. ❤️ After breakfast, we went out to watch the Muscovy ducks bathing. Tiểu Vinh then headed into the village to harvest crops, while I realized my new home lacked fresh vegetables. With the rainy season dragging on, planting directly in the ground risked waterlogging, not to mention the chickens and ducks might scratch up the soil. So, I decided to use leftover bamboo to build an elevated vegetable trellis—a cost-effective way to protect the tender young plants. 🌱🎋 While I was building the trellis, Tiểu Vinh returned with two bunches of bananas gifted by the villagers. She arrived just as I finished the structure, and together, we sowed the first seeds for our little garden. Afterward, I asked Tiểu Vinh to make banana fritters since we had plenty of ripe fruit, while I took the opportunity to tidy up the yard. The weather was temperamental—shifting between sun and shade—with dark clouds gathering and the sounds of thunder and wind rolling in, though fortunately, no heavy rain fell. 🌧️ Once the yard was clean, I hung the banana bunches up high to let them ripen gradually. Then, I sat outside watching the ducks bathe, savoring the peaceful atmosphere. A little later, Uyên Thư came out to sit beside me, while Tiểu Vinh stayed indoors frying up the fragrant, golden-brown banana fritters. When the fritters were ready, Tiểu Vinh called us in to enjoy them. It was a day without grand events—just simple chores, rustic home-cooked food, and the company of loved ones.
